Chapter 7. Snoop and the Professor: I Love Routine
It has become routine this week in Tallahassee. I like routine. Mom goes to work, I wake up the Professor, we take a long walk, I nap most of the day, the Professor works on a couple of research articles, we take a short walk in the early evening, Mom gets home, we have dinner, and we go to bed. We do that almost every day. Life couldn’t be much better. I should note that while the Professor works on his research, he also has movies on the TV. He tends to watch old movies like Father Goose, Key Largo, Casablanca, To Catch a Thief, Charade, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I also noticed that he watches Harry Potter quite a bit. He says the friendship between Hermione, Harry, and Ron reminds him of growing up in West Virginia with his close friends. I have no idea where West Virginia is.
Last night Mom and the Professor went to dinner at a place called Cabo’s, I’m not sure what it is. It is one of their favorite places in Tallahassee. They described as a kind of hole in the wall with great food. They love all the surfboards that hang from the ceiling and the Professor loves the late 50s, 60s and early 70s music that is played. The waiter commented on the Professor’s Woodstock T shirt that he was wearing. I don’t know why but the Professor loves that T shirt. He even bought another one just like it the other day. I don’t even know what Woodstock was.
After Mom and the Professor got home from Cabo’s, we were watching TV and the Professor went to one of the bathrooms. I could hear him both laughing and yelling at me. I quickly hid behind Mom’s legs and put on my best “I didn’t do it” Beagle face. One of the things I love to do is to get into the trash can, check it out, and spread it all over the room. I do this all the time at Casa Staten Indiana. Well, while Mom and Dad were at Cabo’s, I decided to check out the trash in the bathroom and now the Professor had caught me red-pawed. He continued to laugh and told Mom that this was more evidence that Snoop now considered Casa Staten Tallahassee his home.
While walking this morning, I checked on Tom Turtle. Remember I thought he was dead. He had moved to a different part of his fenced in yard. He was not moving and still ignoring me. The Professor insists he is alive, I’m still not sure. Did I tell you how hot and humid Tallahassee is in the summer? Well, it is terribly hot and humid but the Professor seems to be perfectly OK with it. Go figure. Anyway, we got back to the house, Dad took a shower, and started working on a research paper about treaties and what he and Dr. Joe Wert call the “constrained presidency.” The professor was boring me again. The Half-Blood Prince was on television while I took a nap and dreamed of chicken nuggets. I love routine.
