The Adventures of Snoop and the Professor. Chapter 29

Chapter 29. Spring has Sprung in Tallahassee. The Professor reminded me the other day that I haven’t talked to my adoring fans in quite a long time, so I thought I’d talk about squirrels in my backyard. Down here in Tallahassee, Spring has sprung. The leaves are popping out on the trees and bushes, flowers are budding out, the birds are everywhere, it’s warm, and we have more squirrels than ever in my backyard. I love to just lay out in the sun on my back patio or in the grass and sleep and dream about treats and bacon, but I do pay attention to the multitude of squirrels in my trees and bushes and that travel along the top of the fence like it’s a super highway. But, I am a wise, more senior beagle and have learned not to waste my time chasing squirrels, so I just watch them. Mom has several bird feeders strategically placed throughout the backyard and I like to watch the squirrels get together and try to figure out how to get to the bird feeders and eat all the bird seeds. Just the other day, there was one squirrel sitting on the Professor’s chair, another on the Professor’s grill, another on Mom’s chair, another on the table, and one on the limb of a tree. They were just talking to each other about the best way to get to the bird feeder that Mom had just filled. Yes, squirrels do talk to each other, trust me on that one, and they are pretty smart for rodents. Are squirrels rodents? Oh well. Anyway, they must have talked the one brave squirrel into jumping from the Professor’s grill onto the birdfeeder. He missed the first time and was hanging by one arm on the birdfeeder until he fell to the ground. He quickly got back up on the Professor’s grill and this time he flew through the air and made it to the birdfeeder. Looked like Super Squirrel. He began eating and swinging the birdfeeder back and forth and the birdseed began falling to the ground. Well, the other squirrels certainly did not need an invitation to join the feast. I guess a loyal beagle would have gone inside and told the Professor or Mom that the squirrels were winning the great bird seed battle but I decided it was better to continue to sleep in the sun and dream about treats and bacon. Oh, by the way, did I tell you I had my 13th birthday last month? This old beagle is so blessed. I promise to write more often…so please stay safe out there…and also Happy Birthday Bubby Ryan !!! I miss you… One final thing, the Professor wanted me to let you know that my stories can also be found on his blog. I have no idea what a blog is, but he said the link is on his facebook page…whatever that is…back to dreaming about treats and bacon…
