Review of Think Black

Last week I finished reading Clyde Ford's memoir entitled Think Black. A memoir of the struggle for civil rights in our country, it is told through two related lenses. One is through the relationship between his father, the first African American systems engineer for IBM hired after WWII and Clyde, the son, who also was hired by IBM in the late 60s. The inter-generational differences and, in the end, the reconciliation of father and son over their different responses to racism is worth the read. The second lens which is just as informative is through that of technology, in this case the computer, via IBM, and how technology can be used for "evil" as it traces IBM's role in supporting eugenics, Nazism, the holocaust, and apartheid in South Africa. Well worth the read while you are staying safe....
